Cuenca Wrap Up and Slideshow

November 15th, 2013 | Posted by Brianna in Ecuador | Slideshow Pictures | The Places We've Been

We didn’t plan much heading into our time in Ecuador. Our lodging was arranged just days before our arrival, and while we were interested in Cuenca from the get go, in the end it was available apartments that really made the decision for us regarding where in the country we would spend October and the first week of November. As it turns out, Cuenca was an excellent spot for us, and we kept quite busy and active during our five weeks there. We walked a lot, through the centro, around our residential neighborhoood, and along the river in between. We dined out, grabbed coffees, and tried new snacks. We went tourist-style on a double decker bus through town, explored the Independence Day Celebrations, hiked El Cajas, and relaxed at the spa in Baños de Cuenca. Our barrio provided an environment that allowed us to feel as though we were truly living in the city rather than just stopping through, and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to get to know some very welcoming locals. Though we failed to find a place in Ecuador that we didn’t have nice things to say about (honestly, we just had a great experience in the entire country!), Cuenca specifically was an excellent, beautiful city that was fun, cultural, and easy to be in. Check out our slideshow below for our favorite photos.

    Great photos. Thanks.
We spent three weeks in Ec and loved it. Saw some of the same things you did. Otovalo, Quito, Cuenca, Montañita, Guayaquil. Great place. We have been to Costa Rica many times but I think our next trip will back to Ecuador.
