Cottage at Lago de Atitlán
May 29th, 2013 | Posted by in Guatemala | Lodging | The Places We've BeenWe have been thrilled with our choice of lodging for the month of May, a two room cottage at PasajCap just east of San Marcos La Laguna at Lago de Atitlán in Guatemala. The property is accessible by car, boat, and helicopter (woot woot!) and features a lancha dock, a swimming dock, space for parking, a fabulous staff, gated entrance, multiple palapas for grilling or hammock-ing, and gardens galore. Though there have been a few frustrating days with internet outages, the speed when it is up and running has been great. Our cottage is the third from the gate and has been outfitted with a solid fence that allows the dogs to roam free and engage in some epic lizard chases. Also outside of the cottage amidst the beautifully flowering plants are three private porches or patios, two hammocks, a bench, and a table for four, all with electricity and lights and a mind blowing view. The cottage itself is comprised of not just one, but two rooms. Yeah, you heard me right, two rooms. Separate doors and everything. The combination living room kitchen sits on the lower level with the bedroom raised to the side. Both have desk spaces and plenty of storage for personal items, luggage, food, beer, etc. A bathroom (with volcano views from the toilet and shower) is accessible from the outside on the raised level as well. Stone walls add dimension and warmth to the modern ambiance of concrete floors, wood slat ceilings, and full wall glass doors. Especially after four months in Mexico, we’ve relished the quiet here, and with a place this comfortable, we’re not looking forward to saying goodbye.

hey guys.. we’re thinking of renting this very cottage for a couple of months. Any advice? Did the owner have his 3 german shepherds when you were there? And were there any issues with your dog? Thanks!
