Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand We’re Back!

February 7th, 2016 | Posted by Ian in Mexico | The Places We've Been

Right, so it’s been 13 months since our last blog post. Yikes.

Well, we’re back on the road this month. Last weekend (1/30/2016) we crossed from Laredo, TX to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, spending the night just outside San Luis Potosi before finishing the drive to Mexico City the next day. We’ll be here the first two weeks of February and back in old favorite Guanajuato the second half of the month, before heading back stateside.

This isn’t a long-term deal like last time, and there’s a pretty good chance there will be more radio silence after we finish writing about this month, so enjoy the words and images while they last!

Some things are the same this time around. We have a new(er) CR-Van. Same color and everything. Pretty original, huh? The dogs are with us again too.

Some things are different though. We aren’t really working much this month (whereas before we worked a full schedule while traveling), so it feels more vacation-y than last time through. That’s good in some ways and bad in others I suppose.

And apparently I’m a bit rusty, as my stupid ass had my phone snatched from my pocket on the Mexico City subway. Jokes on them though…that ol’ thing was only one step this side of a flip phone.

Anyway, look for more from us here soon. Posts on the Mexican National Museum of Anthropology, Mexico City’s Historic Centro, and a couple laid-back cobblestoned neighborhoods on the south side of town ought to appear within a few days, with more to come after that.

Hope you’ve all been well!

On the road again...

Safest hotel in the state?

Mmmmm yes please.

We're Back!

Glad you made it to your destination safely. Glad your getting some time off before returning home. You have both been working really hard this last winter.
We are watching the Super Bowl right now. We want Denver to win, because we don’t care for Cam Newton.
We just watched the halftime show and didn’t know any of the performers. Getting too old for some of these singers,
We miss you and glad you won’t be gone very long.
    Love, Grandma

Glad to see you all back on the road. At the present time I am in Mexico also, Catemaco Veracruz for a couple months and then back to Cutler Illinois, Costa Rica next year. This year has been a 9000 mile road trip, much fun. look forward to your next post. Dave Verner

It’s wonderful to see you both so happily discovering your world with the energy and exuberance that you emit with such appreciation and grace.

    I’m vicariously loving it!

ps. Everyone needs a little sun screen. :)

I had to find your blog again to see why it was so quiet up stairs for so long. I miss you two. You two were the quietest neighbors I have had in years. (New guy, not so quiet.) Anyway…

I really enjoy your travel stories. I’ve never been to Mexico myself, so it’s great to see some new information about the area there.

    Enjoy your trip!

Wow we are actually really glad to hear we weren’t too loud. We tried to keep it down as best we could — the best policy was to just look out the window and if your car was gone that meant it was an okay time for our yodeling practice and Stomp! rehearsals.

Cheers and all the best to you and Ditta (sp?).
